Mike has a mixed NHS and private practice.

He is able to see patients from around the UK in both sectors. 

Mike's  NHS practice is based at Wrightington Hospital (WN6 9EP) in the North West of England only two minutes from junction 27 of the M6.

A referral letter from your general practitioner directly to new patient appointments at Wrightington hospital can often initiate an appointment. However, some GP practices around the UK  require all musculoskeletal referrals to go through a local central triage service. It is still possible to request a referral to Mike at Wrightington through this route, particularly if the local services required are not provided.

Mike’s private practice is now based in South Manchester the new Spire Manchester Hospital (M20 2AF). He also sees private patients at  Wrightington Hospital on the private John Charnley wing. 

Mike is registered with the major private medical insurers but is also seen significant growth in the self-pay market and is able to offer competitive packages for those patients who wish to fund their own treatment.

Mike is able to offer consultations with regards to all aspects of hand and wrist pain and problems  does not perform microsurgery or congenital hand problems.

Mike has a large practice involving osteoarthritis of the hand and wrist (including finger and wrist replacements and fusions). He also treats base of thumb osteoarthritis for which he is able to offer trapeziectomy, thumb base fusion or total thumb CMC joint replacements.

Dupuytren's disease forms a large part of his practice and he is able to offer all the modern treatments including percutaneous needle fasciotomy (PNF), collagenase injections(Xiapex), open surgery including wide-awake surgery, full thickness skin grafting and segmental fasciectomies. Mike also refers patients with Dupuytren's disease in the palm to the Christie Hospital for consideration of radiotherapy.

Mike is able to facilitate private referrals for trauma and is able to operate out of hours when needed. Such referrals include cut fingers, fractures of the fingers thumbs and wrists, and ligamentous injuries around the hand, thumb and wrist.
