A new drug has been release in the UK for the treatment of Dupuytren's disease.
It is an enzyme that dissolves the abnormal tissues
The drug is called Xiapex and contains purified collagenase clostridium histolyticum. When injected directly into a Dupuytren's cord, it enzymatically disrupts collagen. As a result of collagen disruption, the contracture may be released and the fingers straighten.
Xiapex is specifically indicated for the treatment of adult patients with Dupuytren's contracture with a palpable cord.
Mike Hayton has recently had approval to inject Xiapex in the UK. Mike has also attending a number of workshops in the USA where the injection has been in widespread use following FDA approval last year.
Mike will be offering the Xiapex injection treatment in Manchester at the Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle.
