In February 2013 I was involved in a high-speed biking crash which saw me injured my right scaphoid. The options were to let it heal on its own or to proceed with surgery. Mike Hayton was fantastic in guiding me through surgery and giving me back a right wrist that was fully functioning weeks after the crash. Without his expertise I would not have been able to compete in the first two rounds of the GP2 championship, which at the end of the season I came second.
