Fellowships at Wrightington
Surgeons from the UK and around the world who are undertaking training at Wrightington are at the end of or beyond their formal training programme - they represent the very best of surgeons in training.
The Upper Limb Unit has four Fellows and two SpR''s - usually of year 5/6 level.
The posts are suitable for surgeons with special interests in Hand, Elbow and Shoulder Surgery.
Our upper limb service covers all aspects of Hand, Wrist, Elbow and Shoulder Surgery. It does however include arthroscopy, arthritis, post traumatic reconstruction, tendon and nerve surgery and the management of Dupuytren's disease, as well as primary and complex trauma. We now have developed a large sports medicine practice and recieve patients from many Professional teams and National Sporting Organisisations. There is a busy Rheumatology Unit on site with 3 Rheumatologists providing many interesting and complex referrals.
Each of our surgeons has special and complementary interests. Fellows have the opportunity of designing their Fellowship to suit their individual needs and interests.
There is ample opportunity for basic science and clinical research, with the support of our research team, as well as the Trust's very active and dynamic R&D Department. Research and teaching are regarded as an integral part of the job.
